ON-Q’s Start Smart also specialises in School-based Traineeships, allowing students (usually years 10, 11 and 12) to complete a Senior Certificate/HSC while undertaking training and paid work.

The Start Smart program is designed to help people get the technical skills so vital to Australia’s economy. It is funded by a joint program between the Federal Government and the various State Governments, through a program known as Group Training.

A Group Training scheme employs Apprentices and Trainees and then places them with ‘Host Employers’, usually from small to medium sized enterprises.
 
The Host Employer enjoys all of the advantages of carefully selected Apprentices and Trainees without the worries of long term employment contracts; staffing is flexible to help small businesses meet peak workloads and seasonal variations.

The Apprentice or Trainee is assured of continuous work and training, culminating in a national qualification.
